Food For Thought Fridays: Trust your Instincts
The weekend is here! As our weekend begins, want to share an interesting story that I saw earlier today in a short video clip. T.D Jakes is an American Bishop, Author and Filmmaker. Within the video, he tells a story about a lion that is raised in captivity.
This lion has never been in the wild.
All of his experiences have been in the cage.
He continues to explain that since this lion has only known captivity and has never seen anything beyond the cage, that would constitute as being their natural habitat. Then why do they lock the cage?
“They lock the cage because even though his experiences do not validate it, it’s instincts tell him there’s something else out there.”
T.D. Jakes uses this as a metaphor to explain how a lot of us, now or at some point in our lives, have felt frustration or dissatisfaction because we have been pacing around in our own cage, limiting our life experiences. A cage that may have been self-imposed or we allowed others to force us into. But somehow, our instincts tell us that this cage is not where we belong.
It’s up to us to listen and trust our instincts. Unlike the caged lion, we are the ones who hold the key.
Food for thought! Be sure to drop a comment or send me an email if you have a story or message that you would like for me to spotlight.
Enjoy your weekend my Friends!
