Relationship Advice: Make a list!

Dating and looking for a life-time partner? Confused of what you value the most in a relationship? Been out of the dating scene and not sure where to start?
Here’s some words of advice from a dear friend of mine that I have been friends with since my college days.
Identify what your non-negotiables are! (Critical)
Reflect on what your values are as an individual
Write it down & save it!
Doing this once or every now and then will keep you grounded, along with reminding you of what’s most important to you when dating. At times, we meet someone and get excited because they are sweet and have an immediate attraction. The idea behind this exercise is to go past the surface and dig deeper to determine if it’s someone that will compliment your goals & visions.
I did this for the first time almost 6 years ago and I’m amazed at how these qualities kept surfacing over the years in my relationships. Now, when thinking through your list, it does not mean that you will find someone that hits everything perfectly or to not date someone that doesn’t have every single one of them. It’s a starting point to help you reflect back and see
It’s going to be dynamic & you will see overtime if there are things that are more important to you than others. You will add & remove - it’s all a learning!
Write them down and share them with someone you trust - sometimes talking through why these are important will be invigorating!
Just like my friend shared these words of advise with me, I share these with you my friends! Here is my list from 2014 to give you an idea of what I was looking for as a partner and I’ll share more about my learnings when it came to step #1: Identify what your non-negotiables are
